Each day around lunchtime, Meals On Wheels volunteers deliver much more than hot nutritious food. For homebound people, our visits mean contact with the outside world and the chance to remain at home -- not in a nursing home. Consider some real nourishment at your next lunch hour. Volunteer for Meals On Wheels and enjoy a lunch that's good for your heart. Click here to learn more about our year-round volunteer opportunities.

The Auction Committee is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Silent Auction to be held at the Celebrity Chefs’ Brunch and coordination with Evening With The Masters. The goal is to raise money for both events with special focus on unique, unusual, food and wine-related and travel items. The Committee actively solicits Auction items in a broad variety of categories by contacting donors from prior years as well as new donors, creating interesting packages for the Silent Auction, and assisting with the presentation and promotion of the Auction prior to and during the Brunch. Documentation of all donations is a critical element of this committee to ensure recognition of donors. Marketing brochures and forms will be provided in coordination with the Committee. All communications with donors will be shared in advance and during all stages of work with the Director of Events, to ensure consistent work in the community and alignment between committees. Meals on Wheels Delaware office maintains a software program, Auctionpay, to record clear documentation of solicitations, gifts, acknowledgements, bidders, and buyer information. The Committee will make recommendations on improving communication of special package offerings to guests in advance of the event, without the publication of a full auction book. This Committee will also coordinate with a team check-in and check-out processes.
Please Note: the Auction requires many different talents - some people solicit, others edit copy, other people oversee décor and set-up, runners to pick up items, process packages and records, check-out. Also, extra hands are needed post-event with items picked up later-if you are willing to help in the office for a week or ten days after the event, this would be a huge help!
This committee works directly on the evening event to solicit wine donations for the Cellar Masters’ Wine Auction. Committee members will contribute names for prospective donors and/or attendees, help solicit wine donations and related items, catalogue donations, write descriptions, develop a sales list, help staff the event and encourage attendance.
This committee is responsible for all aspects of the facility, Bank of America. The committee oversees direction of volunteers, traffic flow and patterns of attendees, all equipment, security requirements, flowers and decorations, music and additional décor needs particularly for the Brunch, and all additional site management needs.
This committee is responsible for all aspects of the facility, Chase Center on the Riverfront. The committee oversees all logistics regarding theme, chef station layout, direction of volunteers, traffic flow and patterns of attendees, all equipment, security requirements, flowers and decorations, music, and all additional site management.
This committee will work directly with the Event Coordinator to attract and keep volunteers for weekend events. They will make necessary job assignments for the Sunday Brunch, allowing for breaks and to keep volunteers focused and happy.
